Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men in the United States after skin cancer. More than 200,000 new cases occur annually. It is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in men, after lung cancer. Roughly 27,000 deaths are attributed to prostate cancer each year.

It is recommended that men over the age of 50 have a prostate screening on an annual basis.  Men who have a family history of prostate cancer should begin to have annual evaluations at least by age 40.

In the Fall of each year, FHD sponsors a PSA Screening for the men of the community.  The screening consists of a blood test and a digital exam by a local Urologist.  It is important that both components of the screening be done.  There is no cost to those who sign-up for the screening who are residents of Fallbrook, Bonsall, Rainbow or DeLuz.

Past screenings have had results that indicated more invasive procedures were necessary to diagnose and treat. For several, it was a free screening without which their condition may not have been identified and addressed in time to ensure a positive outcome.  Click here for outcomes of previous years screenings:
